+ Target Audience: adult and pediatric neurologists, epileptologists, neurodiagnostic technologists
+ Information:
Epilepsy is a rapidly evolving field. Specifically, in the last few years, artificial intelligence has changed our approach to diagnostic testing using EEG and MR Imaging. Genetic testing is now available not only for pediatric but also adult patients with epilepsy advancing our understanding of genetic etiologies and potential avenues for precision medicine. Lastly, functional neurosurgery continues to evolve offering more minimally invasive techniques to explore the epileptogenic zone or to target deeper structures for neuromodulation or disconnection procedures.
- Discuss the use of artificial intelligence in the interpretation of EEG and MR Imaging.
- Identify patients who may benefit from minimally invasive epilepsy surgery.
- Discuss the risk and benefits of minimally invasive epilepsy surgery compared to a conventional approach.
- Describe the correlation of EEG biomarkers in genetic or metabolic epilepsies of childhood.
