The 19th Annual Women and Ischemic Heart Disease Symposium will explore sex- and gender-specific issues in womens cardiovascular health, including key topics such as Understanding and Treating MINOCA in 2025, Sex Differences in Stroke Management & Prevention, and Identifying Cardiovascular Risk in Pregnancy. Attendees will also engage in debates on critical topics, including CVD Risk Assessment Tools for Young Women and the merits of Invasive vs. Noninvasive Diagnosis for Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction (CMD). In addition, the symposium will cover heart failure management in women, from GDMT to VAD to Transplant, and provide a detailed discussion of Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) cases. Finally, the intersection of Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction and HFpEF will be explored in depth. The purpose of this conference is to close the knowledge gaps of healthcare professionals regarding gender- and sex-specific differences in cardiovascular disease, the impact these differences have on treatment options, and the importance of identifying women at risk for cardiovascular disease. The symposium will provide the most current evidence-based treatment strategies for optimizing care for women with ischemic heart disease.
- Recognize the importance of risk assessment in young women and the limitations of currently available risk assessment tools
- Understand the noninvasive and invasive options for assessment of women with presumed INOCA
- Recognize sex differences in stroke
- Provide care and treatment to women at risk for cardiovascular disease during pregnancy
- Explore new approaches and therapies for SCAD and MINOCA
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with healthcare team members to optimize the diagnosis, treatment, and management of women with ischemic heart disease.
The 19th Annual Women and Ischemic Heart Disease Symposium 2025 is designed for physicians across several specialties who are involved in cardiovascular care, particularly with a focus on sex- and gender-specific approaches. The key physician audiences include:
