Conference Overview
The Scripps Arrhythmias and Cardiomyopathy in Women Symposium is designed to increase competence regarding the recognition and management of cardiovascular disease in women. The symposium will explore new and emerging risk factors for women’s heart disease while highlighting areas of discrepancy in care management related to gender.
Expert faculty will cover a wide range of topics including the diagnosis, management, and state-of-the-art treatment for women afflicted with heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, and cardiomyopathies. The goal of the activity is to improve outcomes for women with cardiovascular disease and arrhythmias as well as provide educational interventions for both primary and secondary prevention.
Educational Objectives
After attending this live activity, participants should be able to:
- • Discuss cardiovascular disease conditions and risk factors which are more common and/or unique to women.
• Identify the varied and atypical presentation of heart disease and arrhythmia in women.
• Analyze the underutilization of guidelinerecommended medical and device therapies in women compared to men.
• Assess the cardiovascular risk reduction benefits of newer lipid lowering agents and obesity medications.
• Examine the work up and management of CHF in and the unique risks associated with women.
• Summarize the effects on menopause on cardiovascular risk and the role of hormone replacement therapy.
• Describe management of common cardiovascular conditions in high-risk pregnancies.
• Recognize microvascular disease and endothelial dysfunction as a cause of heart disease and angina in women.
• Recognize the unique cardio-oncologic challenges in breast cancer management and survivors.
The Scripps 5th Annual Arrhythmias and Cardiomyopathy in Women Symposium 2025 is best for cardiologists, electrophysiologists, internists, fellows, nurses, and allied health professionals who want to improve recognition and management of cardiovascular disease in women, with a focus on arrhythmias, heart failure, and cardiomyopathies.
