THE 11TH EUROPEAN CONGRESS OF ENDOSCOPIC ULTRASONOGRAPHY (EGEUS-ETS) “The 2025 EUS Summit: From Diagnostic Precision to Therapeutic Mastery”
Conference Dates: September 19 – 20, 2025
Location: Szeged, Hungary (Szent-Györgyi Albert Education Centre) Academic Host: EGEUS-ETS Executive Board & The Turkish Society of Gastroenterology EUS Study Group
General Information
The 11th EGEUS-ETS Congress represents the pinnacle of European education in Echoendoscopy. This year, the congress moves to the historic academic hub of Szeged, bringing together over 30 international experts from Europe and Asia.
Unlike standard theoretical meetings, the 2025 edition places a heavy emphasis on Real-Time Clinical Application. The curriculum is built around live demonstrations and high-fidelity hands-on training, bridging the gap between “seeing” a technique and “performing” it.
This event is defined by its hybrid structure:
-
Live Endoscopy: Complex cases streamed directly to the auditorium.
-
Nurse Education: Dedicated webinars and tracks for endoscopy assistance.
-
Language: English.
Target Audience
This congress is designed for the multidisciplinary endoscopy team:
-
Endosonographers (Junior & Senior): From fellows learning the anatomy to experts refining therapeutic drainage techniques.
-
General Gastroenterologists: Looking to understand the expanding role of EUS in oncology and benign biliary disease.
-
Endoscopy Nurses: Who need to master the setup of complex accessories (LAMS, FNB needles, RFA probes).
Learning Objectives
By attending the Szeged 2025 summit, participants will:
-
Advance Diagnostic Skills: Differentiate pancreatic cystic lesions using the latest contrast-enhanced EUS (CH-EUS) and needle-based confocal laser endomicroscopy (nCLE).
-
Master Tissue Acquisition: Adopt the 2025 algorithms for FNB (Fine Needle Biopsy)—moving from cytology to histology for molecular profiling.
-
Perform Therapeutic EUS: Visualize and understand the step-by-step deployment of Lumen-Apposing Metal Stents (LAMS) for drainage and necrosectomy.
-
Review Anatomy: Revisit biliopancreatic anatomy through the unique “Live Porcine” training perspective.
Conference Topics & “Tracks”
*Note: these are continuous video recordings during the conference, they include individual lectures mentioned in the below
TOPIC 1: The Diagnostic Frontier (AI & Imaging)
-
Artificial Intelligence in EUS: Real-time characterization of pancreatic masses during live scanning.
-
Elastography & Contrast: When to use them? Practical tips to avoid “over-diagnosis” in chronic pancreatitis.
TOPIC 2: Therapeutic EUS – The “Interventional” Shift
-
Biliary Drainage (EUS-BD): Live demonstration of Choledochoduodenostomy (CDS) vs. Hepaticogastrostomy (HGS).
-
Pancreatic Fluid Collections: The “One-Step” LAMS deployment technique.
-
EUS-Guided Anastomosis: Creating new connections (Gastro-enterostomy) for gastric outlet obstruction.
TOPIC 3: The “Hands-On” Experience (Porcine Models)
-
Exclusive Feature: A collaborative course with the Turkish Society of Gastroenterology EUS Study Group.
-
Participants will practice needle handling, wire exchange, and stent deployment on live animal tissue—the closest simulation to human pathology.
TOPIC 4: EUS in Oncology (Ablation)
-
Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA): Protocols for treating pancreatic insulinomas and non-functioning NETs.
-
Fiducial Placement: How to precisely place markers for stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT).
