Acid-Base, Fluid, and Electrolyte Balance Disorders 2024: Challenging Issues for Clinicians
October 23, 2024 | 07:00 AM PDT – 06:00 PM PDT
Location: Ballroom 20C, Convention Center
Session Description
This program provides an up-to-date review of the diagnosis and management of acid-base, fluid, and electrolyte balance disorders. Emphasis is placed on challenging issues commonly faced by nephrology clinicians. Lectures cover the pathophysiology, diagnosis, management, and treatment of acid-base, fluid, and electrolyte balance disorders and present relevant clinical scenarios. The format encourages active interactive between participants and faculty.
Session Objectives
Upon completion of this program, the participant will be able to: 1) describe methods for the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of plasma sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and acid-base balance; 2) summarize the physiology of acid-base and electrolyte balance and describe the critical impact of each of these disorders on patient morbidity and mortality; and 3) list and discuss the management of electrolyte disturbances commonly encountered in patients with CKD or alcohol use disorder and in patients in the intensive care unit.
